fork help

I have an old mountian bike frame 54cm in size which i have had refurbed merely as the frame size suited me. However I want a nice looking fork and have found your carbon range for V brakes to look very attractive and a good price. I havent got the foggiest which one i need size wise, as i would be going from a fork with a slight curve to a straight fork. Is there an easy way of getting the right one? As i havent got a clue which one i need, and which dimensions meant what etc.

I can help you abit in suggesting the right fork.
1. You have to determine your wheel size, is it a 26"(600/650C) or a 29"(700C).

2. Than the material that you want for your fork. If you think you want to reduce some weight and look cool than go for carbon typr fork.
I bought an aluminium mtb fork as weight is not an issue, furthermore it's only a few grams heavier than the carbon fork.

3. The fork length. You can measure your existing fork and follow the exact same length from the stanchion to the mid of the wheel axle. It's in length of 46.5cm, 44.5cm or 42.5cm here in CC. All three will effect the geometry of your bike frame and depends if it's your cup of tea or not. It might adversely affect handling by changing the bike's steering geometry.

If you choose 46.5cm than your bike head tube front will raise up more than 42.5cm.
For my taste I bought the 46.5cm lenght as I prefer the head up looks, more to a down hill.

4. Definitely looks. The carbon option looks more grand than the Alu. But all depends on personal preference.
Hope that helps.

Hi

Please also be sure to check whether the steerer tube is 1 inch in diameter or 1.1/8 inch.

Thanks
